    Peta® sternal closure plates

The Peta® closure plates are a titanium sternal plate system designed to provide rigid fixation after a median sternotomy, improving sternal stability and reducing the risk of postoperative infection or dehiscence.

The Peta® closure plate system addresses the challenges associated with fixing 90-degree sternal incisions or costal osteotomies through an anatomically contoured, low-profile design. Made from a highly biocompatible titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V-ELI) and equipped with an easy-to-use locking block, Peta® provides secure, re-tensionable closure, ensuring optimal stability and patient comfort.

Its low-profile design allows for minimally invasive access, adapting to reduced anatomical spaces and decreasing postoperative discomfort and the risk of soft tissue irritation. Furthermore, its magnetic resonance (MR) compatibility ensures that patients requiring postoperative imaging can undergo it with minimal artifacts and without the need for plate removal.

    Features

    • Material: Ti-6Al-4V-ELI titanium alloy, highly biocompatible.
    •

    • Anatomical design: Contoured to adapt to the natural curvature of the sternum or rib.
    •

    • Low profile: Minimizes postoperative discomfort and soft tissue irritation.
    •

    • Locking block: Secure mechanism that prevents accidental loosening and allows for intraoperative re-tensioning.
    •

    • MR compatibility: Suitable for magnetic resonance with minimal artifacts.
    •

    • Variety of sizes: Available in multiple lengths and shapes to adapt to different anatomies.
    •

    • Screw compatibility: Generally compatible with 2.4 mm or 2.7 mm diameter cortical screws.
    •

    • Sterility: Sterile, single-use product with an approximate shelf life of 5 years if the packaging remains sealed.

    Benefits

    • Improved Stability: Rigid fixation enhances bone healing and reduces micromotion, crucial factors in preventing non-union or delayed union.
    •

    • Reduced Postoperative Pain: The anatomically contoured design can decrease soft tissue irritation, potentially reducing patient discomfort and accelerating recovery times.
    •

    • Precise Surgical Control: The ability to modify or re-tension the locking block screw intraoperatively offers precise control over compression, alignment, and overall surgical outcome.
    •

    • Versatility in Placement: Multiple plate lengths and shapes allow surgeons to adapt the fixation construct to specific anatomies and surgical approaches.
    •

    • Safety in Postoperative Imaging: MR compatibility allows imaging studies to be performed without plate removal, facilitating clinical follow-up.
